The Editorial Board of the Virginia Journal of International Law is pleased to announce it is accepting submissions for the 2020 Human Rights Essay Contest. The Human Rights Essay Contest is open to law students, including students graduating law school in 2020. Pieces submitted to the contest should have been substantially written while the author was a student in law school.
The first and second place winners will receive monetary prizes and offers of publication in VJIL’s 61.3 issue, scheduled for publication in May 2021. Contest entrants are encouraged to consider the topic of human rights broadly. The strongest submissions will demonstrate superior research and writing skills, as well as thorough knowledge and novel study or application of the substantive areas of law.
The submissions window will close on Friday, July 24, 2020. Submissions should be sent to firstname.lastname@example.org. Late submissions will not be considered. Deliberations will take place in August 2020. All contest entrants will be notified of the contest winners by mid-September 2020. Please contact Hayley Hahn, Notes Development Editor, at email@example.com with any questions about the contest.
